Delia's Delights

This past weekend was the Football/Cheer Gridiron Gala Fundraiser at the Sahalee Country Club. I spent Saturday morning setting up for the event. It was so amazing to see so many people get together and work there butts of to enrich these programs for the kids. This is really a community event because it not only helps fund the high school teams but youth football as well. As expected there was a live auction, silent auction as well as a dessert dash and lemon drop party to bid on amongst video footage of the kids.
I was thrilled to see my daughter being interviewed in a video clip talking about how cheer has influenced her life and friendships over the last 3 years. Delia is articulate, confident, charming and gives from her heart. Last year at the end of the year cheer banquet she won the integrity award for always looking out for her teammates. Now, during her senior year she is one of the captains for the football games and I am thrilled to watch her lead this season.
This is the second year I have attended this event. Last year I was a guest but this year I was part of the team. It is the first year that football and cheer joined forces to fundraise. The amount of blood, sweat and tears that the organizers put forth to get this off the ground is commendable. Seriously, it took a village to get this auction set. From finding the venue, meal planning, seating charts, procuring all the donations, hiring an auctioneer, table decorations (which included glassy babies designed with the EHS wolf logo), programs, videos, and so much more. It is so incredible to see how many people put in so much time to make magic happen. The magic that Delia brought to the auction was delicious too. The main reason for this post was to thank her for baking 2 dozen cupcakes that sold for $100.00 that evening.
Delia is always willing to help out when asked and even when she isn't asked. She has already completed her required hours for the National Charity League but continues to volunteer. Just this past Tuesday she did more baking and we delivered dessert to the Friends of Youth for their nightly meal. So, thank you Delia for always stepping up with a smile and a huge heart, and a huge shout out to everyone who made the Gridiron Gala a success.
