Eternal Perspective

I found a quote today referencing “eternal perspective”. I did some research on that topic and found a beautiful description written by Jenn Arman. Her words are so inspiring. She said, ”An eternal perspective is one that views a much larger picture than the one we see in our time-oriented lives. Having an eternal perspective helps us to focus on things that transcend time like God, grace, mercy, love, faith and hope, instead of losing ourselves in our circumstances. The full quote is by Rosemary M. Wixom. She says,” Looking forward with an eternal perspective gives one HOPE, a reason to look up and feel GRATITUDE for even the smallest bit of light.” Lynn’s words rang in my ears, God has given us hope, look up to know you are cared for.
Starting the day off yesterday being grateful for three things couldn’t have been easier. Music, friends, and health. There happen to be so many layers within those categories that I am also so thankful for. My day began with a great visit from my friend, Lynn. We have been getting together for over a year now to do a bible study together. I was lamenting that I was finding it slightly difficult to write about giving without sounding like I was bragging. She reminded me that giving from the heart can likely be a shining light in a dark time. We can give with our money, our time, our gifts but we can also give by reminding people that God has given us the gift of hope. Not a hope of merely desiring something but a confidence in the future.
As I said, finding the light yesterday was easy. I was still feeling great after having such an amazing experience on Friday night with Jill. We went into Seattle to a secret venue to listen to live music which was also a surprise. We brought along a blanket and eventually added some food and drinks. The vibe was laid back and friendly with the hosts encouraging interacting with your blanket buddies on the breaks. There were 3 groups that performed that night and we were blown away by the 2nd act. A young girl by the name of Chloe Hogan from California sang her heart out. We got to speak to her afterwards and gushed over her melodic voice. I believe she said her song comes out on Spotify in 2 weeks. I can’t wait to hear it! It was such a beautiful night spent with beautiful people and beautiful music.
Another friend Leslie and I talked about going to see more live music at Marymoor Park last night. She tried to buy tickets, but they were no longer available online. I then texted our other sidekick Lauray to see if she wanted to join us. Ironically, Lauray had been offered tickets for that exact show from her next-door neighbor earlier that day and had to decline. I offered to buy the neighbors tickets, but they insisted I take them for free! More magical giving! I left a bold bottle of red wine of their doorstep show our appreciation. More music, more fun and more gratefulness.
After looking at the calendar I remembered it was the day the bloodmobile was back in Sammamish, thus reminding me to be so thankful for my health. It was on my Saturday agenda because the last time I tried to donate blood, I got there just as they were closing at 3:00. I went up to the plaza just before 2:00 to ensure I had an hour for the process. Unfortunately, as I opened the door, the technician informed me they were closed! They say the third time is a charm, so it is rescheduled for September.
There are days that perfectly executed plans don't come to fruition and some days they fall into place perfectly. There are some days we all see a bright shining light, and some days we only see a glimmer but it is my hope to eternally remember to feel the gratitude.
